Principles of Design 5 of 7

Contrast. This is often what people mean when they say they want a design to POP. The background is in strong contrast to the content. When working with type especially the contract between the lettering and the background is vital as it determines the size and weight of the font. In this example the coloured lettering needs to be bigger and bolder than the white to stand out against the black background. Here the client really wanted to use the colours of the rainbow as it tied in with the name of the production and the subject. As you can see red and indigo on black are not a strong contrast.
